Kammerberg Castle

The first documented mention of the locality of Kammerberg, then known as “Perga,” dates back to the period between 1006 and 1029. In the 13th century, the local noble family of the “Chammerberger,” descended from the Lords of Hohenkammer, established themselves. They served the Bavarian dukes as ministerials until the 15th century, primarily acting as judges and administrators. Kammerberg developed into the center of a Hofmark, assigned to the Kranzberg regional court. Following the Chammerbergers, the Barons of Freyberg, Preysing, and Bünau became owners.
