Karlsberg Castle
In Carinthia, Austria, Karlsberg Castle, a listed building, is situated on a small plateau below Karlsberg Fortress. Built in the 17th century and later modified, the castle is an example of historical architecture.
History+
The construction of Karlsberg Castle took place in the second third of the 17th century under Karl Rudolf Freiherr von Wangler, who owned both the castle and the dominion of Karlsberg from 1635 to 1667. In 1687, the property passed into the possession of Cardinal Johann Freiherr von Goëss and has remained in the family's ownership ever since. The castle underwent some alterations in the 19th century.

Karlsberg Castle is a two-story, four-winged building enclosing a small, rectangular courtyard. On the west side, there is a basket-arch portal bearing the year 1697 and a cartouche with the coat of arms of the Counts Goëss between curved gable ends. The upper floor features windows with lintels.
