Kartzow Castle, a historic estate, is situated in Potsdam-Kartzow, Brandenburg. Originally a manor, it was transformed into a stately castle at the beginning of the 20th century, shaping the local landscape ever since.

History+

The first documented mention of the village of Kartzow dates back to 1357. The von Hünicke family played a role from before 1412 until 1729. In the early 20th century, the Berlin spirits manufacturer Arthur Gilka acquired the estate. He commissioned architect Eugen Schmohl to convert the manor house into a three-winged castle in the Baroque style between 1912 and 1914. After Gilka's death in 1937, the castle was sold multiple times, including to the Wehrmacht in 1941.
