Built around 1886 in the Styrian Gesäuse mountains, Kassegg Castle is a hunting lodge. It is located on the Erbsattel between Großreifling and Sankt Gallen and shows architectural parallels to the Bavarian royal castles.

History+

The origins of Kassegg Castle date back to the purchase of a farm called “Kahsegger” around 1885 by the industrialist Georg Ritter von Aichinger. Parts of the farm were integrated into the south wing of the castle, whose construction in 1886 is evidenced by extensive timber felling. Between 1899 and 1902, structural problems with the west tower led to a major renovation, during which the west wing was shortened and the castle chapel removed.
