On an elevation at the northern edge of the Backnang district, Katharinenhof Castle, a former hunting lodge, rises. This late-classical building, once a private country estate, is now privately owned and partly used as an event venue.

History+

The construction of Katharinenhof Castle took place in 1847. It was designed as a hunting lodge for Prince Friedrich of Württemberg and his wife Katharina. In 1916, the industrialist Paul Reusch acquired the property and used it as his country estate. Reusch enriched the castle park with numerous artworks. Both Paul Reusch (1956) and his son Hermann Reusch (1971) passed away at Katharinenhof Castle. Since 1993, the castle has been owned by entrepreneur and monument conservator Peter Seydelmann, who is committed to preserving nature in the castle park.
