In the hamlet of Kattenhorn, which belongs to the municipality of Öhningen, is Kattenhorn Castle, once a moated castle. It lies directly on Lake Constance on the Höri peninsula.

History+

The first documented mention of "Cattenhorn" dates back to 1166, when Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa confirmed the Öhningen Abbey's possessions in this area. The fortified house of Kattenhorn Castle itself is first mentioned in 1391. It is believed that the original moated castle was built around the mid-14th century. Hermann Kremlich, from a knightly family in Pfullendorf, is recorded as the first owner and was last mentioned in 1402.
