In Jüchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, stands Schloss Katz, a historic building distinguished by its Baroque architecture and its central role in municipal administration. Originally built as a court seat, it now serves as a cultural meeting point and registry office.

History+

The origins of Schloss Katz date back to the 16th century, when a knight's seat with a tower stood on this site. In the 17th century, the complex was expanded. At the beginning of the 18th century, around 1706, Paulus Katz, the bailiff of the Duke of Jülich, had a new court seat built in the form of a Baroque castle complex on the ruins of the old knight's seat. This originally included a manor house surrounded by moats and two outer bailey. Further extensions and alterations took place until 1767.
