Katzenberg Castle

The construction of Katzenberg Castle is presumed to have taken place around 1600. According to a 1673 urbarium, it was associated with Köppach Castle. The Jörger family used the property as a hunting lodge. After the death of Helmhard IX. Jörger, the property passed to Franz Albrecht Graf Harrach as a dowry through his daughter Anna Magdalena. Shortly thereafter, the dominion was sold to David Ungnad von Weißenwolff, the brother-in-law. In 1722, Katzenberg again passed as a dowry, this time through Maria Josef von Weißenwolff, to Johann Wilhelm Fürst Trautson. In 1744, the property changed hands as a bridal gift from Maria von Trautson to Karl Anton Fürst Auersperg.
