Kaulsdorf Castle, a striking structure reminiscent of a residential tower, featuring a T-shaped floor plan complemented by a semi-circular tower on one side, stands within the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia. Half-timbered elements adorn parts of the building.

History+

The earliest mention of the locality of Kaulsdorf, then called Chulisdorf, dates back to 1074, when Archbishop Anno of Cologne donated the area to Saalfeld Abbey. It first passed to the Counts of Orlamünde, who then ceded the village to the Burgraves of Kirchberg in 1346. In 1426, the Elector of Saxony acquired the complex and its associated village.
