Private School Castle Kefikon

A private school now functions as Kefikon Castle, a structure in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. Located near Frauenfeld, its history dates back to the 13th century.

History+

The first documented mention of Kefikon Castle dates back to 1241. At that time, it was owned by Burchardus de Kevincon, a vassal of the Kyburg family. After the abolition of manorial jurisdiction in 1798, the castle lost its feudal significance and became a country estate for affluent citizens. Among its residents was Hans Conrad Escher von der Linth, known for constructing the Linth Canal. Since 2006, the castle has housed the Kefikon Castle Private School, which celebrated its centenary in that year.
