In the Tübingen district of Kilchberg, Baden-Württemberg, stands Kilchberg Castle. This complex, whose origins date back to the High Middle Ages, combines elements of a moated castle with later additions from the 15th to 18th centuries and is known for its rare octagonal core castle.

History+

The first written mention of Kilchberg dates to 1261, but the original castle likely existed decades earlier, owned by an imperial knightly family. From 1261 to 1438, the castle belonged to the Leschers, whose coat of arms still adorns the Kilchberg municipal emblem. They were succeeded by the Knights of Ehingen.
