Kleeberg Castle

The origins of Kleeberg date back to 1398, when a Simon Munster de Cleberg was first documented. However, no traces of the medieval castle from that time remain. In the 16th and 17th centuries, ownership of the estate changed hands several times between the Ruhstorfer and Auer von Tobel families. The current castle was built in 1610 by Hans Wolf von Ruestorf auf Truchtlaching und Poigen. After the Ruhstorfer family died out in 1735, ownership passed to the Counts of Taufkirchen-Ybm through marriage. When the Taufkirchen-Kleeberg lineage became extinct in the male line in 1871, the widow married Louis Weiß von Starkenfeld, who sold the castle in 1881 to the Barons von Moreau. This family remains the owner of the castle to this day.

Kleeberg Castle is located in Kleeberg, a district of Ruhstorf an der Rott, in the Passau district, Bavaria, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 351 meters above sea level.
