Kleinbardorf Castle

In the 14th century, Kleinbardorf was home to a toll station of the Counts of Henneberg, which was acquired by the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg in 1368. Just ten years later, Dietrich and Conrad von Bibra purchased this toll station and expanded their property in the village over the following decades. Hans von Bibra submitted to the feudal sovereignty of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg in 1508. Following the death of the childless Heinrich von Bibra in 1602, the Prince-Bishopric confiscated the fief. A legal dispute before the Imperial Court, initiated by the deceased's relatives, only concluded in 1681 with the return of the property to the family.
