A predecessor building is already mentioned in the 12th century as being owned by the Wettenhausen Monastery. Later, ownership transferred to Baron von Schertel. In 1693, a new castle was built; in 1753 it was destroyed and rebuilt in 1753; in 1878 it burned down and was rebuilt in 1880/81 by Gabriel von Seidl.
