Klöden Castle
Until 1439, Klöden Castle was owned by Apel Vitzthum the Elder, who played a significant role as "evil counsel" to Duke Wilhelm of Saxony and co-responsible for the so-called Saxon Fratricidal War (1446–1451). Afterwards, the castle came into the possession of the Meissen noble family von Honsberg in exchange for Lichtenwalde (near Chemnitz), who were to keep it for several decades.
Since 2005, the "Förderverein Burg Klöden e.V." (Friends of Klöden Castle Association) has been dedicated to the preservation and museum representation of the castle.
