The Castle can be visited

Usually, a castle was present first, which later became a monastic foundation. In this case, in Klosterrode, a district of Blankenheim near Sangerhausen, it was the other way around. Presumably at the beginning of the 12th century, according to documentary sources, a monastery was founded there by the Burgraves of Magdeburg.
