Kölnhof Castle, a historic structure, is located in Sankt Veit an der Glan, Carinthia, Austria. It was first documented in the late 14th century and underwent various transformations, shaping its current early Classicist appearance.

History+

The first documented mention of Kölnhof Castle occurred in 1378 under the name “Cholendorff”. From 1594, the estate came into the possession of St. Veit guild members and citizen families. A renovation phase likely took place in 1778 under the direction of Johann Georg Hagenauer, commissioned by Prelate Mayerhofer, the last abbot of Griffen Abbey. From 1891 to 1953, the castle was owned by the provincial administrator Arthur Lemisch, before passing to Hubert Knaus. The original gables were replaced by dormer windows in 1884, and the projecting corner towers received their flat domes and lanterns.
