Königsklinger Aue Castle

In 1575, the current Königsklinger Aue consisted of three smaller islands, which merged into a single, larger island due to natural sedimentation and Rhine corrections. Until the French Revolution, the island was owned by Eberbach Monastery. After secularization, the merchant Johann Maria Kertel acquired the Aue, which then became known as Kertelaue. Later, it passed into the possession of the Langwerth von Simmern family, before Salomon Marix, a silk merchant, acquired it and had the first manor house, the so-called Krimschlösschen, built in 1853.
