Kohfidisch Castle

Originally built as a manor farm, the estate was transformed into a castle in the 17th century. Around 1780, it was likely expanded under the direction of architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt, followed by further additions at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1945, the castle suffered minor damage during combat and subsequently served as the Red Army's command post for the Oberwart district until 1949. After the command's relocation, the castle was severely damaged by the removal of building materials, and valuable furnishings were lost. Initial restoration work began in 1975, followed by comprehensive renovations in 1999. Since 2010, further areas, including parts of the basement, have been restored and adapted for their current use.
