Krastowitz Castle
Krastowitz Castle is an 18th-century castle, historically redesigned in the 19th century, located in the east of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
The castle was built in the 18th century. The first known owners were Johann von Schoberg and his wife Maria Barbara von Kulmer. Their double coat of arms from 1714 was formerly located on the north wall of the castle. Under Baron von Reyer, it was rebuilt in the 19th century into its current, historicizing form. In 1957, the castle came into the possession of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture and today houses the Chamber's educational center. In 1964, a training building was added on the north side.
Architectural Description+
The castle is a three-story building on a rectangular floor plan. A gate tower with a pyramid helmet is built in front of the west-facing entrance facade. Above the portal is an inscription tablet from 1714, and on the tower is the coat of arms of Baron von Sterneck. On the main floor, the high windows are framed by pilasters and triangular gables. The windows of the upper floor have a round arch termination with a horizontal gable plate. A console frieze runs below the roof zone.
On the east side, on the ground floor, there are three-part pillar arcades, which support an open column loggia with seven columns.
