Kropstädt Castle

History of the Building+
In the 12th century, the Lords of Liesnitz built a moated castle on the site of the present-day castle. In the 13th century, they are listed as ministeriales. The current building was probably only constructed in 1855/56 according to designs by Friedrich Hitzig. Friedrich Adolf Karl von Leipziger had the castle built in the English Gothic style. In 1908/09, the von Arnim family had the building extended once more before they were dispossessed in 1945.
Today, the castle in Kropstädt serves as a hotel and restaurant.
