Krottorf Castle, originally a lowland castle, is situated in Krottorf, a district of the municipality of Huy in the Börde district, Saxony-Anhalt. It now serves as a children's home.

History+

The origins of Krottorf Castle date back to the Middle Ages, when it was built as a castle by the Lords of Krottorf. The complex was first mentioned in a document in 1270. Ownership changed, first to the Counts of Regenstein and in 1351 to the Bishopric of Halberstadt. It was destroyed in 1363, after which the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the 16th century. Between 1814 and 1849, the estate functioned as a state domain.
