In the Bucklige Welt region of Lower Austria, Krumbach Castle stands as a four-winged complex on a wooded hill above the Zöbernbach stream. The structure now serves as a hotel.

History+

The origins of Krumbach Castle date back to the 13th century, when a fortress was erected here to defend against Hungarian incursions. After being largely destroyed in 1246 and 1260, the complex was rebuilt. In 1394, the lordship passed from Hans von Krumbach to Pilgrim III. von Puchheim and remained in the possession of this family for over 200 years. From 1629, Krumbach belonged to the Counts of Pálffy-Erdöd. During the Second Turkish Siege in 1683, the castle successfully withstood an unsuccessful siege. After 1848, the lordship of Krumbach came to an end, and in 1875, the Pálffys sold the property to Anton Riehl, followed by several changes of ownership.
