Kühlenfels Castle, a building in Bavaria, has a history dating back to the Middle Ages. Originally mentioned as a Bamberg fief, it is today a testament to past eras.

History+

The first documented mention of Kühlenfels Castle was in 1348 as a Bamberg fief. The Melcher family then received the documented usage rights from Otto von Bamberg. In 1502, Ganghof Mecher sold the castle to his nephews Hans and Heinz Rabensteiner. The property suffered destruction in 1525 when rebellious farmers from Hallstadt plundered and burned down the castle. After its reconstruction, Lorenz von Guttenberg acquired the castle in 1563 from Hans Hektor von Rabenstein.
