Schloss Kupperwolf was built in 1747 by Paul Thierry Freiherr von Holbach. From 1758-1784, the castle was owned by Major General Freiherr von Kupperwolf. In 1794, the castle was destroyed by French revolutionary troops during the Revolutionary Wars and subsequently rebuilt.
