Lackenbach Castle
Lackenbach Castle (Hungarian: Lakompaki kastély), a former moated castle, is located southeast of the village of Lackenbach in Burgenland, Austria.
The former moated castle was built between 1548 and 1552 by Erasmus Teuffl and expanded under Archbishop Nicolaus Oláh with architect Geronimo Mariano. In 1618, it came into the possession of Count Nikolaus Esterházy. In 1806, the castle partially burned down, after which the northwest wing was not rebuilt. The moat is still partially preserved.
The castle consists of a two-story main building with an elongated single-story farm building and an administrator's house. The round-arched main portal still has the rollers of the former drawbridge. Above the main portal is a statue of Mary and a double coat of arms of Esterházy-Dersffy.
