A striking structure in Tyrol is Lebenberg Castle, which stands on a hill near Kitzbühel. Originally built as a residential tower, it evolved into an estate that now attracts travelers as a hotel.

History+

The castle's origins date back to 1446 when the Reichertsheimer of Wagrain acquired the then-existing castle. They had a new residential tower built on the hillside, which was named Lebenberg from 1500 onwards. The property changed hands multiple times, including the Vinsterwalder family (1531–1545), Jänisch (until 1551), Lang von Wellenburg (until 1559), and Ungnad (until 1601). In 1693, Johann Philipp von Lamberg acquired it, along with the neighboring lordships of Münichau and Kapsbrunn.
