Lehnhausen Castle

The first mention of Lenhausen as a noble residence dates back to 1285. Since 1457, the castle has continuously served as the ancestral seat of the von Plettenberg-Lenhausen family. The exact course of its construction history is not fully documented, but the original medieval core building was significantly expanded and extended in the second half of the 17th century. Coat of arms stones and wall anchors from 1664 date this period of creation. After a longer period of vacancy, renovation work was carried out between 1672 and 1673, and again in 1874. A staircase wing was added in 1927, followed by a renovation between 1974 and 1981.
