Lengefeld Castle

The first documented mention of Lengefeld as “Lenkevelde” dates back to 1036, when it was an outpost of the Paderborn manor in Korbach. The moated castle itself was first mentioned in 1228 in connection with the Lords of Lengefeld. In 1272, it was a fief of the Counts of Everstein and owned by Albert von Mühlhausen. Ulrich von Escheberg was enfeoffed with the castle in 1318, before it passed to Henricus Teddesalt in the same year. The Teddesalt family held the fief until the death of Philipp Zedesalt in 1632. In the 14th century, Lengefeld became the property of the Counts of Waldeck and belonged to the Amt Eisenberg in the 15th century.
