In eastern Saxony, in the Görlitz district, stands Leuba Castle. This building, originally conceived as a manor house, is a monument of Baroque architecture of the late 17th century and is now privately owned.

History+

The origins of Leuba Castle date back to the years 1695 to 1698, when Hans Christoph von Schweinitz (1645–1722) had the building constructed as a manor house for the Nieder-Leuba knight's estate. The inauguration of the new building took place on August 22, 1698. In 1759, the knight's estate changed hands when Johanna Sophia von Schweinitz sold it to St. Marienthal Monastery.
