Leuba Castle

To be privately owned

Schloss Nieder-Leuba+
Geschichte+

The castle was built by Hans Christoph von Schweinitz (1645–1722) as the manor house of the Nieder-Leuba knight's estate from 1695–1698 and inaugurated "with great festivity" on August 22, 1698. The simple Baroque building presents itself with a seven-axis front and a three-axis central risalit. Johanna Sophia von Schweinitz sold the knight's estate to St. Marienthal Abbey in 1759. In addition to initial self-use by the abbey, the estate and castle were later leased several times to various users. After a longer period of vacancy, the castle is now in private ownership. It is a listed building.
