Leuzendorf Castle is situated on the outskirts of the eponymous district of Burgpreppach in the Haßberge district, Bavaria. This property, once surrounded by a moat, underwent a comprehensive restoration, which began in 2004 and preserved its historical substance.

History+

The earliest mention of the village of Leuzendorf dates back to 1358, when it was subject to tithes from the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. In the 16th century, the fief was granted to the Fuchs and von Leineck families. In 1589, Prince-Bishop Julius Echter enfeoffed Christoph Heinrich von Erthal with the lordship, making the castle the ancestral seat of this family's Leuzendorf line.
