Limberg Castle is a historic structure in Lower Austria, distinguished by its late Gothic core and subsequent expansions. Originally developed from a farmstead, it now presents itself as an imposing four-wing complex with a striking tower.

History+

The history of Limberg dates back to 1294, when a castle owned by the Zinken family was first documented. This original fortification, situated on elevated ground near the parish church and possibly surrounded by water, had already fallen into disrepair by the 16th century. At the site of the current castle, there was likely an associated farmstead or noble residence, which was transformed into a castle around 1570. In 1755, ownership passed to Altenburg Abbey, which later sold it to the current owner.

Limberg Castle is situated at an elevation of approximately 277 meters above sea level, in the plain east of the village of Limberg, which belongs to the municipality of Maissau in the Hollabrunn district of Lower Austria, Austria.
