Lindenberg Castle

The origins of Lindenberg Castle likely date back to the late Middle Ages, presumably evolving from an earlier structure. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the noble families von Beeß and von Kracht shaped the estate's history. A member of the von Kracht family was Hildebrand von Kracht, known as the commander of Küstrin Fortress. In 1903, the Rhenish entrepreneur Wilhelm Colsmann acquired the castle and commissioned the Berlin landscape architect Ludwig Lesser to redesign the castle park. A later owner was the Cologne banker and later CDU politician Robert Pferdmenges, who hosted Konrad Adenauer, among others, here in 1937.
