Lindstedt Palace in Potsdam, Brandenburg, is an integral part of the region's palace and garden landscape. It is characterized by its late-classical architecture and is closely linked to the plans of King Frederick William IV, who intended it as a retirement residence.

History+

The estate's origins date back to the early 19th century when it was owned by ancestors of Loriot. In 1828, Frederick William III acquired the estate, which was originally used for carp breeding. From 1828, Frederick William IV developed detailed plans for a retirement home on this site over decades, creating more than a hundred drawings himself. Despite the involvement of architects such as Ludwig Persius, Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse, August Stüler, and Ferdinand von Arnim, only a simplified version of his original vision was ultimately realized. Construction began in 1858 and was completed by his brother Wilhelm I after the king's death.
