Lippersdorf Castle
Schloss Lippersdorf+
History+
Schloss Lippersdorf near Freiberg is a Neo-Renaissance building from 1905, which was built on the grounds of the local manor. A manor was already mentioned in documents in 1754. The manor was, among others, in the hands of the von Berbersdorf family. When the castle was built, the estate belonged to Carl Axel von Herder. A pair of coats of arms above the portal shows the coat of arms of the von Herder family and the coat of arms of the von Minkwitz family. The castle was acquired by the city of Chemnitz in 1924 and converted into a children's recreation home around 1928/29. A children's home is still housed in the castle today. The castle is surrounded by an extensive park.
