Lodersleben Castle

Hotel

Lodersleben Castle was commissioned in 1740 by Karl Ludolph von Danckelmann on the walls of an old estate. The master builder David Schatz carried out the construction. In the 19th century, the historian Leopold von Ranke lived in the castle. Later, ownership passed to the von Schulenburg family, who were dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. After this, the castle served as refugee accommodation and, until the 1970s, as a school. The interior design was altered accordingly during this time, without destroying the original spatial structure. In the early 1990s, the castle was in a problematic condition. In 1997, extensive restoration work began. Today, Lodersleben Castle houses a guesthouse.
