Loersfeld Castle

The first documented mention of the Loersfeld lords' property dates back to 1262. At that time, Knight Eberhard von Belle and his wife Hildegunde sold arable land to Bottenbroich Monastery, with Johann von Kerpen co-sealing as the landlord, indicating its affiliation with the Kerpen lordship. Loersfeld was part of the County of Kerpen and Lommersum until the French period. In the 14th century, ownership first passed to the Merode family and then, through marriage, to the von Horn family, who adopted the suffix "called von Loersfeld." From 1435, Heinrich Spies von Büllesheim zu Bodendorf was the owner, during whose 140-year tenure the current manor house was built. This was followed by the von Eynatten family (1559-1665) and Dietrich von Leers. Around 1770, the Cologne merchant Caspar Wilhelm von Hamm acquired the estate. After the death of his daughter Anna Catharina in 1795, it passed to her husband Georg Albert Reinecker. The current outer bailey was built around 1771.
