Löw Castle (Staden)

Löw's Castle is an 18th-century castle building in Staden, municipality of Florstadt in the Wetteraukreis in Hesse.

The building was erected in 1746 and replaced an older manor house of the Lords Löw zu Steinfurth from the 17th century. The property in Staden goes back to an older co-heir share in the neighboring Staden Castle. In 1872, the castle garden was expanded into a large landscape park at the behest of the then owner, Baron vom Stein zu Staden, which extended south of the former village center and beyond the Nidda river. Eduard Petzold (1815–1891), who had received his training under Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, worked as a landscape gardener. In 1885, the park became municipal property. After various inheritances, the castle was bought by the municipality in 1904. It initially housed a school, and today it contains the community center.
