The moated castle Loifling in the Bavarian district of Cham is a historic structure that now serves as a cultural center. Its origins date back to the 12th century.

History+

Loifling was first documented in 1150, when it functioned as a Hofmark and was the seat of Hermann von Lewflingen, a ministerialis of the Diepolding family. The moated castle also dates from this period. In the 15th century, the Hofmark passed into the possession of the Barons von Poißl von und zu Loifling, who held the estate until the 19th century. The Poißl family had the castle chapel of St. John the Baptist built in 1456.
