Luisenburg Castle (Mannenbach)

Louisenberg Castle is located on Lake Untersee in Mannenbach (municipality of Salenstein) in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. In place of the old Mannenbach chaplaincy building, the former French Brigadier General Marquis de Crenay built a manor house in 1834/35, which he named "Louisenberg" after his wife's niece, Louise de Séréville. The building is three stories high and has a flat hip roof. On the castle terrace is a symmetrically arranged park with copies of old statues. In 1873, Jean Bürgi-Betschaft from Arth bought the castle, and in 1878 it became the property of Cantonal Councillor Abraham Fehr-Häberlin from Mannenbach. In 1889 it belonged to Baroness Emilie von Breidenbach, from 1906 to Jean Kaestlin, from 1945 to Mrs. ten Brink-Merian, and from 1960 again to the Kaestlin family, to whom it still belongs today.
