History+
The construction of Maltesholm Castle began in the 1630s under Malte Juel von Gjesinge. Originally built in the Renaissance style, the castle featured a main building and two side wings, encircled by a moat. A renovation took place in the early 1780s, during which the top floor was replaced by the hipped roof visible today. The park also underwent several phases of development: a 17th-century Baroque park was transformed into a Neoclassical style in the 18th century and further expanded with a landscape park in the 19th century.
