Mandorf Castle

Mandorf Castle is located in the village of the same name in the municipality of Kötschach-Mauthen in Carinthia. The complex was built by Hans Mandorfer, the captain of Ortenburg, and first appears in documents in 1521. Since 1802, the castle has been owned by the Pichler-Mandorf family and today serves as a seminar center.

The castle is a three-story late Gothic building on a rectangular floor plan with a renovated half-hipped roof. The eight-axis south front is marked 1520 above the portal. The late Gothic chamfered window frames are made of red Laas sandstone. On the north front there is a late Gothic pointed arch portal in red sandstone with profiled frames. The vestibule has a net-ribbed vault and features four painted coats of arms from the mid-16th century on the walls.
