Marck Castle (Tecklenburg)

The origins of Schloss Marck date back to the 12th century, when the Lords of Horne held the estate as vassals from 1198. In 1368, the family acquired the land to build a house there. The original, simple single-story buildings still date from the 14th century. The complex underwent an expansion when Gertrud von Horne married the mercenary leader Georg von Holle in 1537, who expanded the manor house.
