Massenbach Castle, a three-winged complex in the Rococo style, is located in Schwaigern-Massenbach in the Heilbronn district. It was built around 1760.

History+

The current Massenbach Castle was built around 1760 by Georg Wilhelm von Massenbach (1721–1788). It replaced an older manor house, likely destroyed in the 17th century. Before the construction of the present castle, various lines of the Barons of Massenbach resided in simpler buildings in the village. These included the Lower Castle, built in 1691, and the Catholic Castle, which were demolished in 1993/94 due to dilapidation, despite having been listed as historical monuments. To distinguish it from these other estates, the current castle was once also known as the Upper Castle.
