History+
The origins of the current Matgendorf Castle date back to the mid-19th century. Between 1852 and 1856, the building was constructed according to designs by architect Hermann Willebrand. It replaced a predecessor that had been destroyed by fire in 1851. The builder was the then estate owner Cuno August Peter von der Kettenburg.
