Metternich Castle, also known as Heppinger Hof, is a structure in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the district of Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Originally a moated castle, it was transformed into a baroque palace in the early 18th century.

History+

The castle's origins date back to 1617, when it was first mentioned as a moated castle belonging to the Counts of Manderscheid-Blankenheim. In the early 18th century, it was converted into a two-story baroque building with a hip roof. In 1736, Franz Josef Wolff-Metternich acquired the property. It became a permanent family residence from 1920, when Josef Wolff-Metternich, the founder of Eifelfango Chemisch-Pharmazeutische Werke, moved in.
