In Michelbach an der Lücke is Michelbach Castle, an estate with roots in a medieval moated castle. Today, it presents itself in a Baroque form, dating back to a reconstruction in the early 18th century after suffering destruction during the Thirty Years' War.

History+

The origins of Michelbach Castle trace back to the 10th century, when a moated castle belonging to the Lords of Schwarzenberg stood on this site. This complex, along with four ancient farmsteads, formed the core of the settlement at that time. After the Battle of Herbsthausen in 1645, the castle was completely destroyed.
