In the Himmelgeist district of Düsseldorf, Schloss Mickeln was built as a summer residence. It has symmetrical architecture and a historic park, which still preserves a part of its original tree population.

History+

The origins of Schloss Mickeln date back to 1210, when Haus Mickeln stood on this site. After its destruction by fire in 1836, the then owner, Duke Ludwig von Arenberg, commissioned architect Josef Niehaus to rebuild it. The design was inspired by engravings of 16th-century villas by architect Galeazzo Alessi.
