Mickhausen Castle

Originally, the castle was owned by the Nobles of Reck. Via the family of Argon and later Heinrich von Freiberg, the castle came into the possession of the Bohemian King and later Emperor Ferdinand I in 1528. Afterwards, it was given as a fief to Jakob Fugger. His adopted son, Raymund Fugger, had the castle extended by Narziß Krebs in 1535–1536. In 1691–1695, the castle was extensively rebuilt by Paul Graf Fugger. In 1842, it was rebuilt again and has been preserved in this state to this day. In 1843, the indebted Count Karl Anton Fugger-Nordendorf sold it to the Count of Rechberg-Rothenlöwen. During the Second World War, the castle was used as a hospital and until 1967 as a nursing home for the elderly. Afterwards, the castle was in private ownership and is to be sold. The municipal council and municipal administration will use new rooms between the east and north wings on the upper floor from September 17, 2014.
