In Miel, a district of Swisttal in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, stands Miel Castle, a Baroque castle. Its architecture is reminiscent of French hunting lodges.

History+

The origins of Miel Castle trace back to an older moated castle belonging to the Spies von Büllesheim family. Between 1768 and 1771, Caspar Anton Freiherr von der Heyden, a statesman and regent of the Electorate of Cologne under Elector Max Friedrich, had a new Baroque castle built on this site.
